Hello, I'm Tiana. 👋🏼

Based in Vancouver (but open to relocation), I am an aspiring UX Designer and a Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) candidate, studying Interaction Design at Emily Carr University of Art and Design.  

I embrace the importance of random side quests, unconventional paths, calculated risks, and continuous learning in gathering new insights on my journey toward a creative career in the tech industry. Hence, I am open to trying new things outside her comfort zone to broaden her knowledge and skill set.

When I am not studying or working,  you can find me volunteering in my community, sharpening my design skills, or completing the daily new york times wordle and mini crossword.

🎨 my journey to art school.  

​​

As a kid, I was always creative and enjoyed drawing in my free time. When I reached high school, I gravitated toward art classes but also soon discovered my strength in visual design. Because art was such a huge part of my upbringing, I decided to try applying to art school. 

 📚 choosing to study design.

I attended Emily Carr University of Art and Design, located in Vancouver, British Columbia. Faced with many different options for majors, I ended up choosing to study interaction design. I was intrigued by the fact that the field blended creativity and technology while making a difference in people's lives. I was also drawn to the fact that I could make a career out of it.

Approaching the end of my studies, I have more free time to work on projects, pursue other interests and experience new things that supplement my education. These are some of my side quests: ​​​​

⭐️ Work-Integrated Learning Programs 

  • Will be starting an internship at a company that does retail liquor training for hospitality workers, starting in January 2025

  • Working on a project-based internship with an AI-driven learning platform start-up

  • Completed an internship with a digital creative agency that does UX/UI design, branding, graphic design, and marketing

  • Completed a project-based internship with a smart modular door start-up

  • Participated in the Intrapreneurship Program (Sept. 2024,  May 2025 & Oct. 2025 Cohorts), where I got to work on projects in data analysis, market research, and Operations

 

⭐️ Volunteering

  • Currently designing a website for the United Nations Association of Canada, Vancouver Branch (UNAC-V)

  • Designed a website for Partners in Education Roatan (PIERS) as part of the Summer 2025 batch with Develop for Good 

  • Monthly meetings with a youth advisory committee for a local organization that works on providing mental health and substance use support

  • One-off design events with the Design Professionals of Canada or anything else that piques my interest​​
